ADARA, Curation and Petrography Laboratory
The official classification of meteorites requires the performance of various analyses, and entails significant expenses. It requires the extraction of the type specimen, and petrographic and geochemical analyses, in order to present the new meteorite to the Nomenclature Committee for approval.
The entire process can be very long, even years. For this reason, in our laboratory we are offering a much more economical service for the classification of ORDINARY CHONDRITES type meteorites and in a FAST process than normal.
What methods do we use?
Our analyses are based on thin section polarized light petrography and magnetic susceptibility analysis (LogXm and C-index). This allows us to carry out rapid analyses and submit the meteorite in a short period of time.
Because magnetic susceptibility is an approved method for the classification of Ordinary Chondrites, the time and economic costs are significantly reduced.
Why Ordinary Chondrites?
Although they are very complex meteorites, chondrites have been shown to have very specific magnetic susceptibility values, which allows them to be officially classified using this rapid method, and to be entered into the meteoritical bulletin.
You now have the opportunity to enter your meteorites into the Meteoritical Bulletin, with your name as "main mass holder". All that is required is the appropriate type specimen, and payment for the procedure, which can be made through PayPal. Contact us for all the necessary details.
Registering meteorites with The Meteoritical Bulletin is the best guarantee of authenticity we can give them. In this way, the international scientific community and collectors around the world recognise all the characteristics of the meteorite. This procedure also allows meteorites to increase their economic value considerably, making it easier to sell them or simply to have a well-documented collection.

Petrographyc Analysis.
First step to ensure all needed data for inscription of the meteorite in the meteoritical bulletin. We made the thin section for analysis.
Magnetic Susceptibility Analysis.
In this analysis we obtain the data about the values of Log X m and C-index, ensuring the type of meteorite.
Publication in The Meteoritical Bulletin.
Once the meteorite was revised by the Nomenclature Committee, it can be published in The Meteoritical Bulletin and in The Meteoritical Society Database. The official procedure concluded.
