Diamond Wire Saw Cutting

ADARA, Curation and Petrography Laboratory

Public Service

Meteorites are valuable rocks. And often, beauty is hidden within them. Therefore, cutting and displaying them can be a rewarding action, both at the collector's level and at the scientific level. To do this, and to avoid losing limited and valuable material, we use a diamond wire cutting machine. Making precise cuts, with minimal loss of material, and with the ability to display pieces and surfaces in a professional and clean manner.

Diamond Wire Saw

We have incorporated a public service into our laboratory for cutting diamond wire of different sizes, carrying out precision work to laminate rocks, fossils and meteorites. We offer a semi-polished or polished finish on one side of the cut, and we prepare samples for analysis.

Diamond wire cutting allows for lamination of rocks with a maximum diameter of 60 millimetres X 80 millimetres (maximum 500 grams pieces).

Why Diamond Wire?

Diamond wire allows for precise and easy cutting of any type of rock. We work in cutting rocks, meteorites and fossils. Ask us any questions you may have.

As for meteorites, we DO NOT CUT ureilites. We do cut other types of meteorites. In addition, we use three different wire gauges, especially suitable for materials of great economic value, such as lunar or Martian rocks.

PRICE FOR CUTTING;

Depending on the diamond wire gauge;

0.35 millimeters (recommended); 2.10 €uros / cm.

0.20-0.15 millimeters; 2.35 €uros / cm.

0.12 millimeters; 2.75 €uros / cm.

We make laminates from 1 millimeter thick. Also cutting ends and plugs.

Preparation of samples for analysis.

Cutting small sections or portions for analysis preparations, thin sections and geochemistry.

STS-202A machine.

We use precise, high-quality machinery and quality diamond wires, which are new for each piece.

Specially for high value specimens.

The use of diamond wire to cut meteorites means that material loss is minimal and precise cuts are made on the base proposed by the client. Please contact us with your special requests.
